I do not suggest or recommend making polymer clay plugs for your ears. Polymer clay is not "clay" but a form or porous plastic. Meaning, your ears might grow into them! There haven't not been many cases but don't risk your ears!

I made a sushi cane myself once, and had the same thing happen from cutting it soft. I don't suppose you'd know a good amount of time to freeze it for?

I generally try to leave the canes in the freezer for an hour. (If I am patient enough) ^^; It will harden a little bit over time and be easier to cut further down the line, but the freezer method is a lot faster.

I'm a little confused with canes.. So do you bake the cane and then use the little cut slivers or do you cut the slivers and then bake?
Reply
:iconchat-noir:
chat-noir Featured By Owner Apr 9, 2012  Student Artisan Crafter
You can actually do it both ways! Depending on how you plan on using your cane you can bake it for a few minutes to harden it up (like 5-7 minutes) and then cut it and use it for projects. Or, you can use the cane as is, cut it up and then bake them.
